In commercial and office premises tiling is often done to a tight schedule alongside other contractors. Where needed, the work can be done outside opening hours so that use of the space is disturbed as little as possible.

In public spaces the choice of tile is driven by wear resistance and slip resistance in wet areas. Large continuous surfaces require careful substrate preparation and a planned joint layout so that the result stays true across the whole area.
